Highbury Corner, London

Back to Case Studies

The Highbury Corner Bridge was built around 1850 and carries the Holloway Road over the London Overground line. The bridge also sits under the busy Highbury & Islington station building and forecourt

S Evans was awarded with this high profile project to demolish both bridges during the Christmas period.

Working in a busy residential area of London, adjacent to Highbury & Islington station, in adverse weather conditions and a restricted program. Using demolition excavators ranging from 7t up to 50t with various demolition attachments, our team of highly experienced operatives worked day and night on alternating shifts moving over 2000 tonnes of mixed tarmac, brick, and concrete, and over 200 tonnes of steel, as well assisting the scaffolding and mobile crane team, made sure this project was carried out safely with 0 accidents and kept on schedule.

S Evans where delighted to receive good feedback from Network Rail, Hochtief, and the local public. S Evans would like to thank Hochtief for awarding S Evans this project and we look forward to working on more projects like this one in the future.
