S Evans & Sons Ltd were awarded the demolition of the former ITW Switches LTD factory building and offices, which had been purchased from Lidl GmbH for the extension of their existing premises next door. The factory was made up of a single story manufacturing/warehouse building and a three story office building, along with additional smaller ancillary buildings.

Prior to the start of any works being carried out S Evans were responsible for the hoarding of site to Lidl standards, ensuring safety from the public at all times. The areas surrounding the building where very restricted, and extra care and planning was put in place to ensure both the demolition works and S Evans transport & delivery of plant would run smoothly with minimal obstacles or disruption.

The manufacturing/warehouse building consisted of numerous partition walls, low level ceiling lighting, M&E cabling, factory plant, ducting, floor coverings, as well as other various elements. utilizing S Evans 13t and 7t demolition spec excavators, both the manufacturing building and offices where mechanically soft stripped back to the original shell. All waste generated was segregated accordingly for recycling at appropriate local facilities.

Once the building had been soft stripped, 35t and 25t demolition spec excavators worked systematically in a top down fashion to demolish all the buildings on site.  All buildings where brought down safely with no incidents and according to the strict program. Following the demolition S Evans delivered their 50t Crusher to site for all hardcore generated to be crushed to 6f2, all crush was certified and stockpiled on site for reuse by the client. Once all the buildings had been demolished and cleared from the area, all slabs and foundations where broken out and grubbed up, again with all concrete being crushed and stockpiled on site.

Finally the site was graded and left in a safe and clean manor and handed back to Lidl for the continuation of their project. This project was completed within the agreed schedule with no incidents and a very satisfied client.

“Safety standards are very good with good scores on all visits from our safety consultants. S Evans¬†are a good contractor to have working on site, very approachable and easy to deal with.”
