British Steel – Heavy Section Mill Completion
S Evans & Sons started works on British Steel’s Heavy Section Mill in April 2019, this month after an extensive 2-year process the works were completed.
The Heavy Section Mill was built in the early 1970’s and is predominantly constructed from heavy steelwork which made up the buildings structure.
The S Evans & Sons team carried out the works over a 6-phase plan with each phase being completed before the next one commenced; the phasing considered other activities which were being carried out in or near the mill and kept the demolition works away from or from disrupting activities such as asbestos removal and diversions.
The dismantling and demolition of the redundant mill was completed to the client’s satisfaction with no major accidents or incidents.
