Stapleton Viaduct

Bristol 2018

Major rail upgrade

Replacement of the Stapleton Road viaduct, the last of its kind in the UK and the work of engineer Brunel, formed a crucial part of a project to double the number of railway lines between Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood station.

Working for Taylor Woodrow and Vinci, we managed the demolition of the bridge and clearance of the site over a two-week period. Using a variety of demolition specification machinery in tandem, the team brought the large structure down in a safe and efficient manner and worked around the clock to clear hundreds of tonnes of steel, brick, concrete and timber from the site. Work was completed ahead of schedule.

This project was one of numerous demolition projects we managed in the Bristol area, including works on the Filton Bank Upgrade Scheme and Narroways Hill’s footbridges and abutments.
